FAQs

rFindery Frequently Asked Questions:

  • How easy and straightforward is this?
    • Everyone that I have demoed this to says it’s very easy to understand and very straightforward and intuitive to use. We expect this to be the case for everyone who signs up.
  • How long does it take to fill out a vendor profile or customer profile?
    • A vendor profile can take as low as 10 minutes to fill out since there’s only 5 required fields, but can take up to 2 hours since there are 40 RFI questions. However, once done, that is all the time that is needed to spend on the platform. Notifications are sent to vendors via email with clickable links to the customer project.
    • A customer profile takes about 3 minutes to fill out since there’s only 3 required fields to sign up and waiting about 60 seconds for the confirmation email to reach the inbox. Additional time, of course, will be needed to fill out a posted project, but this can be a 2 minute job or more depending on how much detail is added.
  • Where does your information come from?
    • Vendors sign up and provide their own information and answer their own profile RFI questions. Customers (consumers of vendor products) also sign up on their own and post their own projects and profile information.
  • How do you get vendors and customers to join your marketplace?
    • Right now since we’re just starting we invite the vendors that we know, ask for referrals, and good old fashioned hustling and cold emailing. Same with the customers. If you know a vendor of customer that would benefit from being a user here, please send them our way for a demo and free trial!
  • What type of customers join the marketplace?
    • Any customer that buys security products join our marketplace. We have some of the largest customers in the world and small ones alike. As you may have read in our About Us page, it’s too hard for anyone to keep track of the increasing number of vendors that are out there.
  • What type of vendors should join?
    • Our typical cyber security vendor is under 150 employees and sells 1-3 software products.
  • Can vendors see other vendor profiles?
    • No, vendors cannot see each others’ profiles in order to maintain the privacy and information unique to each vendor.
  • Can customers see other customer profiles?
    • No, customers cannot see each others’ profiles in order to maintain the privacy and information unique to each customer and projects they are posting. Also, customers may keep themselves anonymous by signing up under an alias. Customer profiles do not display customer emails. Only customers may initiate messaging between themselves and vendors.
  • Are you only focused on cybersecurity?
    • At this time and for the foreseeable future, yes, we are only focused on cybersecurity vendors and customers.
  • How much does it cost to join?
    • At the moment a limited number of vendors and customers can JOIN FOR FREE for the first year. Afterwards, membership for vendors is $250/month or $3000/year. Membership for customers is $50/month or $600/year.
  • How are you different from other companies like Gartner, BitSight, Ariba Network, and Forrester?
    • The ways that we are different is that vendors sign up and provide their own information and answer their own profile RFI questions. The vendors that we focus on are also startups under 150 people. In addition to this, the rFindery platform is automatically connecting these vendors to potential customers. These other companies focus on much larger, established companies as well as act as a third party providing information about vendors based on their own research rather than vendor provided information. Ariba Network focuses on transactions and processing between e-commerce systems. In this way, we are completely unique to the industry.
  • How do I edit a project I already posted?
    • At the moment, existing projects cannot be edited. Existing projects most be archived or deleted and then a new project must be posted.
  • How can I update the RFI questions with more of my own questions?
    • Each profile has the same standard set of RFI questions that has been created and vetted for optimal efficiency by customers evaluating vendors. There is, however, space for vendors to add in additional information about themselves where the specific question may not exist.
  • Do you have plans to include government or 8(a) companies and designate as such?
    • Governments and their departments are more than welcome to join rFindery. Vendors can also tag themselves as an 8(a) company if they are indeed one, but will need to provide the necessary proof to the customer upon request.
  • How do you work with customer organizations that may be working with channel partners or vendors that have preferred status?
    • The role of rFindery is the automatically connect vendors to customers and customer to vendors. After this connection, it is up to both parties to begin their typical sales process. If the customer has a preferred channel partner that they work with, the customer is more than welcome to begin those conversations with the channel partner and vendor outside the platform. However, supporting and facilitating these transactions is on the platform roadmap.
  • Does the Project clock run down?
    • Projects currently stay Active until the customer archives or deletes the project.
  • How can we add additional categories and subcategories?
    • NIST, SANS, HIPAA, and industry map standards determine the categories and subcategories. If your company still does not fall under these categories, please email us at feedback@rfindery.com and we’ll add it in.
  • Can any vendors see the attachments in the customer projects?
    • Yes, vendors can see customer projects. They cannot, however, see any other vendors that have bid on the projects nor can they see or the customer profiles in the marketplace.
  • Does rFindery provide questions based on my company category or subcategory?
    • The same standard set of RFI questions are on each profile. Customers evaluating vendors have helped create and vet these for optimal efficiency. This feature, however, is a roadmap item that we are considering for a future release. Sign up or email us as info@rfindery.com for the RFI questions to complete offline then copy+paste in your rFindery profile.
  • Can I specify multiple contacts for notifications?
    • Each profile may only have one email address attached to it for notifications. As such, we recommend using a generic alias such as sales@[domainname] dot com.
  • What if I’m both a vendor and a customer?
    • If you are a large enough organization to be a vendor and customer, please only sign up as a customer since it is highly likely that other customers already know who you are in the market.
  • Do you hold any contracts, MSAs, or NDAs between vendors or customers?
    • We are considering this as product roadmap item, but this is unavailable at this time. If you think this would be a highly useful feature, please send us a message at feedback@rfindery.com
  • Do you provide recommendations or advisory services?
    • We are considering this as product roadmap item, but this is unavailable at this time. If you think this would be a highly useful feature, please send us a message at feedback@rfindery.com
